Tackling The Streams

This collaboration is the first of its kind. Artist Grant Hacking was looking for new grounds to further his already masterful career. By chance, we crossed paths, and we incorporated my skills as a classically trained furniture maker and self taught carver and fly tyer. With much thought and imagination, both artist and artisan untied their talents and conceptualized ideas for elaborate display boxes. “Tackling The Streams” is the first of their Outdoor series. I used my love for fly fishing to carve a woven creel in which to house 11 of his go-to flies. As the anxious angler opens the box, they are then presented with a calming rendering of a New Hampshire Moose skillfully painted under the lid by Grant Hacking.
